Cover it with a heavy cloth if possible. Do NOT use plastic. Make a tent like cover. Put a small heater inside or 2, or 3 light 50 watt bulbs inside. Be sure to remove just after sun rise in the am
Do I cover a sago palm if it is going to freeze tonight?
Pile up mulch around the base of the trunk, kind of like a volcano, this will protect the roots with insulation.
You might also want to drape a potato-bag (burlap) over the top if it is smaller.
