How do I take care of a sago palm?

this is rathing confusing because Sago Palms will reproduce by tubers and seeds. The seeds rise up out of the center on a cone. It appears that you Sago is very happy. It is doing just what it should.

The question is, why would you think that seeds are a sign of an unhealty plant? Go to www.davesgarden.com and type in Sago Palm or Cycas Revoluta. The blight that one finds on Sago's is a small white powdery type that covers entire leaves. However, the bugs live down in the soil. If you get this disease go to Univ.of Fl. IFAS web site. There is detailed information there. By the way, it appears that in Fl. over 90% of Sago's have this disease and we my loose them all in the next 10 years.

Reply:Fertilizer - Palm %26amp; Ixora food

Water - once per week (as needed if in a rainy climate)

Sago's are susceptable to an infestation of a type of mite - looks like the fronds have white powder on them. This seems to be predominant in Florida right now. A paraffinic oil or an insect killer (like malathion) will control this. If you use the oil, you might have to make 5-6 applications every 7-10 days.
Reply:i would go to the drug store and get some ointment for it.
Reply:kill it
