How to care for sago palms.?

Are these for indoor growth or are you in a zone 10 climate?

For indoor growth, give them bright light especially in winter. Keep the siol moist in summer and allow the top 1/3rd of the soil to dry in the winter. Water only the top 1/3rd that is dry.

Use a high nirtogen fertilizer- the first number on the label- at 1/4th strength weekly in summer. None in winter.

In zone 10 plant outside and water when no rain for 2 weeks!

How to care for sago palms.?
I love all plants and especially palms, but the sago is notoriousfor getting a white fungus on its leaves which will eventually kill it. I live in florida and when driving around, i always see countless numbers of rotting or dead stumps on sagos. go to your locaql nursery, or home garden center and ask what kind of fertilizer/remedies there are if this happens--good luck!
Reply:i have two sagos planted one gets full sun until 7 pm in the summer and gets watered by the auto sprinkler . it is 6 years old and stunted growth and brown tips. the second gets morning sun till 1 pm and watered once a week and is 4 years old and is four times larger than the other and a dark beautiful green. second fertilized with compost only. first with commercial fertilizer. hope this helps.
