We have two in my front yard that are growing out of control.
What is the correct way to trim sago palms?
I would NEVER trim the trunk! You could easily kill it or doom it to a mishapened life.
Old, dead or misplaced leaves are easily trimmed with an appropriate tool.

Reply:The only thing to trim would be leaf stalks. It's not like you can cut the top. You may trim off any lower leaves that are bothering you. But leave at least 2 or three rows at the top.
